Forest Schools - Autumn 1

Rievaulx had a fantastic day in forest schools this week. They worked hard, linking their learning to our curriculum; crafting Mayan hieroglyphics, building Mayan temples, cooking (or burning!) toast and using their own carved knives to spread the butter.

Showing Perspective

Rievaulx's art unit has got off to a fantastic start.  The half term, we are focussing on movement, emotion and perspective, using the work of Charlie Mackesy as our inspiration.  The children worked hard to identify objects and details in the foreground, middle ground and background when creating their pieces.  Then, they used a special felt pen and water technique to mirror the Mackesy style.
