ELG Numbers: Children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.

This week’s focus will be all around estimation.

Starter: Finish the pattern. I have attached a game your child can go or you could create some repeating patterns at home using objects from around the house.

Main activity: estimation and comparing groups. Can you create three random sized groups and ask your child to tell you which is the smallest or which is the largest? They should do this through a sensible guess or estimation and once they have identified which group they think is the largest or smallest you can could the objects to check. Repeat this three times, try to challenge the children by making the groups similar sizes or displaying each group differently.

Any work on tapestry please and don't forget they can go on Mathletics too.
