Mathematic

ELG

Numbers: Children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.

This week’s focus will be different every day. We will be looking at all of the maths we have covered over the half term.

Starter: counting in 2’s.

Main Activity: doubling and halving is what I would like you to do with your child today. Can your child double and halve amounts between 2 and 20. Using objects from around the house and ask your child to double it or half it? If your child is comfortable move up to numbers to 50 as a challenge. Could your child right number sentences in their books too. So for doubling they can write 5+5=10 and for halving they can write 'half of 10 is 5'.

Remember any work needs to go into their green work home books and on tapestry please.
