Shape, space and measures: Children use everyday language to talk about size, weight, capacity, position, distance, time and money to compare quantities and objects and to solve problems. They recognise, create and describe patterns. They explore characteristics of everyday objects and shapes and use mathematical language to describe them.

This week’s focus will be on money.

Starter: Splat. I have attached a link to a 100 square. Can you say a number and your child can splat it? Start with just 1 – 20 but you can challenge them all the way up to 100. Play this for just 5 minutes.

Main Activity: first part of today is coin detective. It is a colouring sheet but if you don’t have access to a print just as your child to point to which coin is which on the screen. Then we are going to move onto ‘how much is in my purse’? Can you write an amount between 1p – 20p and your child can draw the write coins to get to that amount. Start small between 1p and 5p and then start to challenge.

Remember any work needs to go into their green work home books and on tapestry please.
