ELG Numbers: Children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.
This week’s focus will be all around
Starter: sequencing numbers. I have attached a game on top marks, your child need to put the numbers the correct order. This is tricky and they may need a lot of support start with 0-10 and build up. Only spend 5 minutes doing this.
Main activity: today I would like you to focus on being able to compare quantities but through estimation. Fill three containers with different amounts of the same or different objects. Can your child put them in order from small amount to largest amount? Once they have done that you can check by counting out the objects. If they were right well done if you were wrong, why? Is it the size of the objects or the size of the containers?
Remember any work needs to go into their green work home books and on tapestry please.
