ELG Numbers: Children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.
This week’s focus will be all around doubling and halving.
Starter: Counting back from 20 do this a few times. We enjoying doing this along with the YouTube video I have attached.
Main Activity: Ask the child what do they think when they hear the word ‘double’? If they need help discuss a double decker buses, a double bed and dominos. Explain that dominos are always doubles. If you have some dominos get them out and show your child. If not have a quick look online to show your child. Then move onto the work sheet attached.
Challenge: Can your child write the number sentence underneath each domino, for example 2+2=4?
Pictures of work on tapestry would be great but if you are able to print and put in home work books that would be great to.
