ELG Numbers: Children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.
This week’s focus will be all around subtraction.
Starter: counting in twos. I have attached the songs we like to sing.
Main Activity: today I would like you to work on subtracting with a number line. The worksheet is two pages, please complete the first and if your child would like to move onto page two that is fine but it is not necessary. Your child will need a demonstration for the first two questions. Show your child you start at the largest number in the sum and then jump backwards however many you are taking away. For example 15 – 3 = , start at 15 jump down three numbers to 12 and ask your child what number you landed on. To offer further assistance your child can use objects from around the house.
Remember any work needs to go into their green work home books and on tapestry please.
