ELG Numbers: Children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing. 

This week’s focus will be all around subtraction.

 

Starter: Could you today do a quick game of doubling and halving with your child. Get them an amount of object between 1 and 10 and ask the to double it or half it.

 

Main activity: Today your child can pick how they would like to do some subtraction. I have attached a game that you can play. I have also attached a link to top marks and some subtraction games and your child can go on Mathletics. You could also do some with the objects around the house, it is entirely up to them.
