ELG

Number: Children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.

This week’s focus will be different every day. We will be looking at all of the maths we have covered over the half term.

Starter: counting up and down from 0 to 20.

Main Activity: estimation – can your child remember what it is? A sensible guess. Can you get your child to use their estimation skills? Look around the room can your child estimate how many objects you have for example how many mugs in the cupboard or how many pens in the pot? Once they have had a guess can they count them out. Then you can fill up three containers with different amounts of objects can they out them in order from least through to the most amount of objects. Count when finish to see how they have done.

Remember any work needs to go into their green work home books and on tapestry please.
