Number: Children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.

This week’s focus will be place value through to 100.

Starter: counting in 5’s. I will attached a video to help down below.

Main Activity: today we are carry on with the notion of tens and units. I would like for your children to begin grouping in 10’s. if you could start with a number of objects between 20 and 30 and ask them to divide it up into piles of 10. They will have a few left over but explain that these are the units and the groups are all 10s. then ask them to write the number. If it was 23, for example, explain that the 2 in 23 represents 20 or 2 tens and 3. Do this two or three times and if your child is confident work with numbers up to 100.

Remember any work needs to go into their green work home books and on tapestry please.
