ELG Numbers: Children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.

This week’s focus will be all around doubling and halving.

Starter: can your child sing the time songs. ‘when the big hand is at the top it is something o’clock’ ‘when the big hand is at the bottom its half past. When the big hand is at the bottom its half past. When the big hand is at the bottom its half past but o’clock at the top’. Then a quick round of matching up the time – here is the link https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/116/telling-the-time set it so it is only to the hour and half past.

Main activity: Today I have attached a game that will use both your child’s doubling and halving skills.

Remember any work needs to go into their green work home books and on tapestry please.
