Number: Children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.

This week’s focus will be place value through to 100.

Starter: on the 100 number square get your child counting in 5’s.

Main Activity: this week we are going to be thinking about place value. For this first day I would like you to get onto the 100 number square and start to count in 10’s. talk through with your child where the 10 timetables are and what numbers they are. Explain the when we think about a two-digit number for example 65 it is 6 tens and 5 units. This will hopefully become more apparent throughout the week. Once they have counted in 10’s a few times you can start to test their knowledge any number between 0 and 100. Who can find the number the fastest for example.

Remember any work needs to go into their green work home books and on tapestry please.
